Eligibility
  • South Fork Suites is available for students who graduated high school in 2021 or earlier or are 21+ years old.
  • Any eligible current UWRF student residing in a residence hall can form a group and serve as the group leader. 
  • Any current UWRF students who are living off campus can become part of a group of 4 or 2, but cannot serve as group leader.
Items to Note
  • Roommate groups of 4 or 2 are required. You must have a confirmed group of 4 or 2 in the Housing Portal by Thursday, Feb. 9 to enter the lottery. Please review roommate group instructions when it becomes available to learn how to create a group of suitemates and designate a group leader.
  • Mixed gender suites are permitted. Please review the instructions when it becomes available to learn how to create a mixed gender group (groups of 4 are required). This must be completed in the Housing Portal by Thursday, Feb. 9 to enter the lottery.
  • Suites are awarded through a lottery. Confirmed groups of 4 are given priority in the lottery. Groups of 2 will be selected if space is available.

Monday, February 6-Thursday, February 9 at 4:30 p.m.: Timeline to sign up for the lottery in the Housing Portal, which will give you access to the South Fork Roommate Search feature in the Portal, allowing you to confirm roommate groups of 4 or 2. Mixed gender suite groups of 4 must also be confirmed on this date within the Housing Portal.

Tuesday, February 14: Email sent out to groups awarded/not awarded a suite through the lottery

Thursday, February 16: Room Selection (see times below)

  • Groups of 3 & 4: 7am - 11am - Those awarded a suite by lottery can choose any available suite
  • Groups of 2: 1:30pm - 5:30pm - Those awarded a suite by lottery can choose any available suite


Wednesday, March 22 - Friday, May 12: If there are any spaces available in South Fork Suites, you may choose those spaces without having a confirmed group of 4, provided you qualify to live in South Fork Suites.

Eligibility

Any current residence hall student interested in a traditional double room as a single room for the 2023—2024 academic year, should complete the single room lottery page in the Housing Portal. Residence Life will be providing several single rooms throughout Hathorn, Johnson, May and Stratton hall (traditional double room as a single).

Students are responsible for the additional cost for a single room. See the 22-23 room rates for an indication of current rates. 23-24 room rates will be posted when the UW-System Board of Regents reviews and approves rates.

Students who have been approved for a single room through the housing accommodation process do not need to apply for the lottery. Work directly with Residence Life on your room assignment for the 23-24 academic year.

About

Neighborhood groups provide an opportunity for groups of friends to be assigned to the same pod, floor, or wing in a preferred hall by forming a group in the Housing Portal.

Eligibility

Any current residence hall student. Groups may include UWRF students living off campus or new students for Fall 2023.

Items to Note
  • Group Leader: Each group must choose a Group leader who will create a list of names, Falcon Account numbers (commonly referred to as "W numbers") and roommates in the Housing Portal for the neighborhood group.
  • Group Size: Neighborhood groups can range from a minimum of 3 rooms (6 people) to 10 rooms (20 people). 
  • Group Details: Neighborhood Groups must consist of roommate pairs. If you have 4 or more rooms, you may have one room that doesn’t have a confirmed roommate pair. The empty space can be chosen by any student during room sign up or Residence Life will assign a student to any available spaces within your Neighborhood Group.
  • Roommates: Group members may be of any gender, but roommate pairs must be the same birth gender.
  • Halls: A small block of rooms will be set aside in Ames, Hathorn, May, Johnson and Stratton.
  • Lottery: A random lottery system will be used if there are more groups interested in a building then the number of rooms blocked for this process.
  • Room Selection: Residence Life staff will assign group members to a building and individual rooms within the building.

About

The Gender inclusive Community is a housing option in which two students share a room regardless of student’s sex, gender identity or gender expression. 

If you are interested in living in this community, you must indicate this in the Housing Portal by selecting “yes” (you are interested); you will be able to request a roommate of any gender. This community is in Johnson Hall on the 1st floor.

  • Eligible students will be notified by Residence Life regarding room selection during this phase.
  • Eligible students who would like to live in this community must complete the Gender Inclusive Agreement in the Housing Portal.

About

Residents living in the Substance Free Community agree to observe a standard that prohibits the possession or use of alcohol and illegal drugs, as defined by Wisconsin law and university policy, by themselves or their guest(s) in the Substance Free community.

Residents agree that the use of any of these substances by themselves or their guest(s) outside the hall that disrupts the community within the hall is also prohibited. By living in the Substance Free community, residents acknowledge that they may be reassigned and/or restricted from the community if standards are not met.

  • Any current residence hall student who is eligible to live in Ames Suites is eligible to live in this community.
  • Eligible students need to complete the Substance Free agreement in the Housing Portal.
Items to Note

One pod in Ames has been set aside for this community. If interest is greater, Residence Life may expand to two pods to accommodate requests.

Room Swap is for any student who has already selected a room but would like to select a new room. Each individual student interested in swapping rooms must do this independently. A student cannot do this for a roommate.
