How Do students Get Paired With Their Mentors?

New students who are accepted into the Aspire Program are paired with an upperclassman who has been attending UW-River Falls for more than 1 academic year. New students who are otherwise known as "Mentees" are paired with their mentor based on information shared on their application. For example, our application asks for major/career interests, clubs and organization interests, and any services and resources you are interested in. Completing this section will help pair you with the most compatible mentor. So, the more detail you provide, the easier it is to pair you with a mentor that is right for you!

How can I earn $500 for the academic year?

Over the course of the academic year, mentees can earn up to $500 which they can apply to study abroad, research, and or internships. The $500 is split into two semesters meaning mentees can earn up to $250 for the fall semester, $250 for the spring semester.

Mentees simply earn money by going to different programs and events which focus on campus involvement, learning about services and resources, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, research opportunities, leadership opportunities, career services, study abroad and so much more!

What is the Connections Living Community?
How Do I Find More Information?

The Connections Learning Community is a residential experience for first-year students who are members of the Aspire Program. Students in this community represent a variety of majors and all the residents are dedicated to being engaged, intellectual students on campus. The Connections Community connects students with academic, cultural, and social resources, while providing opportunities to interact with staff from Residence Life, Career Services, Academic Success Center, Aspire, and the Center of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
