Hundreds awarded annually by UWRF!

Recipients of history scholarships (listed below) will be notified by the History and Philosophy Department in April. Scholarship certificates will be available to pick up or can be sent by email. E-mail notification from the Financial Aid office generally occurs in April or May.

All scholarship awards are contingent on students meeting eligibility requirements as defined by the UW-River Falls Foundation and the Financial Aid office.
 

History Scholarships

Dr. Stephen C. Feinstein Memorial Scholarship. 

  • Must have attained freshman status.
  • Must show aptitude and interest in continuing the study of history with consideration being given to applicants who are pursuing a degree with a major in History.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Preference given to a student with financial need.
  • Preference given to students, who like Dr. Feinstein, had an interest in WWII Holocaust study and Russian history.
  • Based on the criteria, applicants must write an essay detailing qualifications for the scholarship.

History Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship supports outstanding History students.

  • Student must be a History and/or Broad Field Social Studies major
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Must have attended UWRF as a full-time student for at least one semester when he/she applies for this scholarship

Margaret and Colonel H. G. Jones Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship supports an outstanding entering sophomore student with a History major.

  • Student must have completed 32 credits of university work
  • Student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25
  • Student must have demonstrated financial need
  • Student must be a responsible citizen
  • In the event that a History major does not qualify, a Political Science or Sociology major will be considered, in that order.

Moeser Historical Scholarship. This scholarship supports an entering junior or senior student with a History major.

  • Student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Must be a resident of Wisconsin or Minnesota

Manley E. Olson History Scholarship. This scholarship supports students entering their sophomore, junior or senior year majoring in History. (No new award for 2020-21; this award was renewed for last year's recipient.)

  • Student must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • The scholarship is renewable each year until graduation, provided the recipient continues in their major and maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Dr. Edward N. Peterson Scholarship. 

  • Student must have attained freshman status.
  • Show aptitude and interest in continuing the study of history with consideration being given to applicants who are pursuing a degree with a major in History.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Walker D. & Helen Bryant Wyman Scholarship. This scholarship supports a full time entering sophomore, junior or senior student with a History major.

  • Student must be enrolled for both the upcoming fall and spring semesters of the academic year
  • Student must have completed at least one full year of study or 30 credit hours at UWRF
  • Academic excellence in the history major, potential for success and financial need may also be factors.
