Burnett and Polk counties have proportions of households in which grandparents are looking after their grand children that are similar to the percent in Wisconsin.
Pierce and St. Croix have only about half as many households in which grandparents are looking after their grandchildren as in Wisconsin.
Chisago and Washington are similar to Minnesota with respect to this indicator.
Other than Burnett County, the other St. Croix River Valley counties tend to have lower proportions of households in which grandparents have responsibilities for their grandchildren.
The proportion of households in which grandparents live with and care for grandchildren has fallen sharply in Pierce and St. Croix counties.
Polk and Burnett counties have had a fair amount of volatility with respect to this variable, but both have seen some declines since 2015.
The proportion of households in which grandparents are living with and responsible for their grandchildren has been declining in Minnesota since 2014.
In Washington County this proportion has been trending downward since 2010, but has been increasing in Chisago County over this time period.
