On Saturday, Mary and I attended a Celebration of Life honoring Dr. Nick Karolides. Nick, a UW-River Falls professor emeritus of English, passed away June 7. I was honored to be asked by the family to say a few words as family, friends, colleagues, and former students gathered to celebrate his life.
 
Falcon robotics team makes inaugural trip to international competition
July 30, 2018 - On a breezy Thursday evening on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, a group of four students hunkered over a large white table. They moved quickly, scuttling back and forth between the white table and another smaller table covered in Lego pieces and small tools. The foursome was troubleshooting as a team, discussing various packing materials and debating whether corrugated cardboard would help their cause or not.
 
Season of change brings McGinty, Karges eras to a close
June 29, 2018- When Dan McGinty arrived at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in the fall of 1975, the R.A. Karges Center was just 15 years old. Over the last four decades, both McGinty and Karges Center have left a pair of indelible – albeit unique – impressions on UW-River Falls. Now, after a pair of long stints, the final chapters of the two Falcon staples on campus are coming to a close – Karges deconstruction is well underway this summer while McGinty is set to retire July 6.
