Sept. 4 - AMPFitness - Yoga - *Falcon 5 Event

OVERVIEW:  Join over 100 of your fellow students for a morning of outdoor yoga at the Amphitheatre.  All skill levels are welcome to this introductory class.  Some yoga mats will be provided, but please bring your own if you have one.

REGISTRATION:  NONE

TIME:  10am-11am

Sept. 7 - RECFest *Falcon 5 Event

OVERVIEW:  Don't let the "Freshman 15" get to you!  FIND YOUR FIT with UWRF Campus Recreation by attending the FREE RECFest at the Falcon Center on September 7th starting at 7pm.  Register for an Intramural Sport league/tournament or Falcon Outdoor Adventures trip, climb on the wall, join a Sport Club, or simply take a tour through the newly opened Falcon Center to see Hunt Arena, Page Arena, Knowles Fieldhouse, Falcon Outdoor Adventures, Karges Auxiliary Gym, and the Fitness Center.  Go home with a FREE intramural or trip registration, t-shirts, drawstring bags, or ID holder/cell phone stand, a few new friends, and a base for years of fitness with UWRF Campus Recreation.

Sept. 8 - Bag Toss Tournament

OVERVIEW:  Intramural tournaments are setup to give UWRF students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to play in an organized event against like-minded individuals on campus.  Play consists of a guaranteed two contests.

REGISTRATION:  Online registration is available through IMLeagues.  Teams may also register in-person at the event between 3:15pm-3:45pm prior to the start of the tournament.

START TIME:  4pm

LOCATION:  Hathorn Hall

FEE:  FREE

ROSTER:  Bag Toss is listed as an open league.  Teams may consist of two males, two females, or one of each.

Sept. 9 - Sand Volleyball Tournament

OVERVIEW:  Intramural tournaments are setup to give UWRF students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to play in an organized event against like-minded individuals on campus.  Play consists of a guaranteed two contests.

REGISTRATION:  Online registration is available through IMLeagues.  Teams may also register in-person at the East Courts between 9:30am-9:50am prior to the start of the tournament.

START TIME:  10am

LOCATION:  East Courts (near Crabtree Hall) - some contests may be moved to the West Courts (near Johnson Hall) based on total teams registered.

FEE:  FREE

ROSTER:  Volleyball is played with up to six players at one time.  Teams may start with as few as 2 players.  Sand Volleyball is an open tournament; however, at no point may their be more than one additional male on the court than female.  A team may have all female players, but may not have all male players.

Sept. 21 - Falcon Center Grand Opening - *Falcon 5 Event

OVERVIEW:  After nearly two decades of efforts, the largest building project in the 140-year history of UW-River Falls will officially open its doors Sept. 21 with a Grand Opening celebration. The $63.5 million Falcon Center will provide outstanding spaces for academics, wellness, recreation and athletics. Join us for hands-on activities including games, fitness equipment and classes, prizes and giveaways, tours, climbing wall, kids activities, refreshments, outdoor rental center and more. Sept. 29 - Disc Golf Tournament

OVERVIEW:  The Intramural Disc Golf Tournament is setup to give UWRF students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to play in an organized tournament against like-minded individuals on campus.  Tournament play will consist of either a 9-hole or 18-hole score with prizes awarded to top finishers.  Some holes on the course may also have specific challenges for other prizes (closest to the pin, farthest drive, longest putt, etc.)

REGISTRATION:  Online registration is available through IMLeagues.  Participants may also show up at the course after 4pm to register for the event in person.

TIME:  4pm-6pm

LOCATION:  The Disc Golf Tournament will take place at Hoffman Park in River Falls.  All scores must be reported by 6pm to the staff working at hole #1.

FEE:  FREE

ROSTER:  Disc Golf is a singles tournament.

Oct. 31 - Costume Climb

OVERVIEW:  Come climb at the wall in your Halloween costume!  Best costumes will win prizes.

Nov. 18 - Bouldering Competition

OVERVIEW:  Falcon Outdoor Adventures (FOA) is hosting a Bouldering Competition on November 18th at the Climbing Wall inside the Falcon Center.  This event is open to all students, faculty/staff, and community members.

REGISTRATION:  Online registration can be found here.  Registration online is open through Wednesday, November 15th.  On-person registration is available day of at the Climbing Wall.

START TIME:  The event will run from 12pm - 3pm.

LOCATION:  The Falcon Center Climbing Wall is located at 185 Emogene Nelson Ave in River Falls, WI.  Parking is available in Pay Lot 3 directly in front of Ramer Field.

FEE:  The fee starts at $5.

PRIZES:  Prizes will be awarded to the Male and Female winners.

Nov. 20 - 3 v. 3 Basketball Tournament

OVERVIEW:  The Intramural 3 v. 3 Basketball Tournament gives UWRF students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to play in an organized tournament against like-minded individuals on campus.  The tournament will consist of pool play followed by a single elimination playoff bracket for those teams who qualify.  Contests are scheduled on a rolling schedule.  Each team is guaranteed two contests.

REGISTRATION:  Registration is available online only through IMLeagues from October 16 @ 7am through November 20 @ 5pm.

START TIME:  7pm

LOCATION:  Karges Auxiliary Gym in Falcon Center

FEE:  $15

ROSTER:  Minimum of 3 participants.  Maximum of 5 participants.  Co-Rec teams must have one male and one female in the contest at all times.

OVERVIEW:  Join Student Involvement, Residence Life, and Campus Recreation as we host some FREE late night fun at the Falcon Center.

Spring 2018

Feb. 7 - FREE Bowling Night

Registration:  Participants do not need to pre-register.  All participants must show UWRF ID at St. Croix Lanes to receive the discount.

Feb. 17 - Falcon Indoor Triathlon

OVERVIEW:  Join the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF) Campus Recreation Department for the 1st Annual Falcon Indoor Triathlon presented by Summit Commercial Fitness.  The Falcon Indoor Triathlon is hosted at the UWRF Falcon Center inside the Knowles Field House.

Heats of up to six participants will start at 8:00am.  Every 20 minutes, another heat will begin as participants move from one event to the next.  The total race time from start to finish for each participant is 60 minutes.  Participants do not need to be at the event prior to the start of their heat nor remain at the event after their heat has ended. 

Each participant will have a volunteer to help record the distance traveled within the allocated time.  Machines used will be the Matrix Rower and IC7 Bike.  Running will take place around the 200M indoor track.

  • Row - 15 Minutes
  • Transition from Rower to Bike - 5 Minutes
  • Bike - 20 Minutes
  • Transition from Bike to Track - 5 Minutes
  • Run - 15 Minutes

REGISTRATION:  All registration for the Falcon Indoor Triathlon will take place online through the UWRF Campus Recreation website.  During registration, participants may select a prefered time-frame (8:00am-10:00am, 10:00am-12:00pm, or 12:00pm-2:00pm) and indicate up to three participants to be matched up with in the same heat.  Participants will be assigned to a heat within the prefered time-frame indicated during registration. 

Campus Recreation Staff will do our best to accommodate every request.  Final heat times and lane assignments will be made available and emailed to participants by Wednesday, February 14th, 2018.

TIME:  8:00am-3:00pm

Feb. 22 - National Recreational Sports and Fitness Day *Falcon 5

OVERVIEW:  Join the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Campus Recreation Department in celebrating the NIRSA National Recreational Sports and Fitness Day.  The Falcon Center will be home to many activities throughout the day including:

  • Pull-Up Competition - Fitness Center Rig Area - All Day
  • Open Bouldering - Climbing Wall - All Day
  • Free-Throw Contest - Auxiliary Gym - 5pm-7pm
  • Open Climbing - Climbing Wall - 6pm-9pm
  • Olympic-Themed Open Skate (with Curling) - 9pm-10pm
  • Group Fitness Classes - Multipurpose Rooms - Check Schedule

REGISTRATION:  None

Mar. 20 - Basketball Skills Challenge *Falcon 5

OVERVIEW:  Join the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Campus Recreation Department for the March Madness Basketball Skills Challenge.  There will be a 3-Point Challenge, a Free Throw Challenge, and an Obstacal Course.  Winners of each challenge will receive prizes.

REGISTRATION:  None

TIME:  5pm-7pm

Apr. 14 - Off the Wall Climbing Competition

OVERVIEW:  The penultimate installment of the Wisconsin Indoor Climbing Series, test your mettle at the UW River Falls Off The Wall Climbing Comp on April 14th!

REGISTRATION:  Online registration can be found here. Registration online is open until 10:30am on the day of the competition.  On-site registration is available day of at the climbing wall.

TIME:  11am-3pm

LOCATION:  Falcon Outdoor Adventures Climbing Wall

FEE:  $30 for University of Wisconsin and University of Minneosta system students, $35 for community.

PRIZES:  Prizes will be raffled off after climbing has completed.
