Falcon Indoor Triathlon

UW-River Falls Campus Recreation is excited to host the 5th Annual Falcon Indoor Triathlon on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the UWRF Falcon Center inside the Knowles Field House.  This event is a great mix of competitive and recreational participants from both on-campus and off-campus.



Early registration - (January 1 - February 19 at 11:59pm)

  • UWRF Student or Under 18 - $20
  • UWRF Faculty/Staff - $25
  • Community - $30

Late registration - (February 20 - March 3 at 12:00pm)

  • UWRF Student or Under 18 - $25
  • UWRF Faculty Staff - $30
  • Community - $35

Participants register for a specific heat here. This allows participants to message their friends and find a time that works for them to compete together.

*T-shirt is included in registration.

Event Setup

Heats of six participants will start as early as 8am and go until 1pm. Every 20 minutes, another heat will begin as participants move from one event to the next. The total race time from start to finish for each participant is 60 minutes. Participants do not need to be at the event prior to the start of their heat or remain at the event after their heat has ended.  All results will be posted online.  Awards will be available for pick-up at the Falcon Center Desk after the event for those who leave.

Each participant will have a volunteer to help record the distance traveled within the allocated time.  Machines used will be the Matrix Rower and IC7 Bike. Running will take place around the 200M indoor track.

  • Row - 15 Minutes
    • Transition from Rower to Bike - 5 Minutes
  • Bike - 20 Minutes
    • Transition from Bike to Track - 5 Minutes
  • Run - 15 Minutes


Scoring System

Each participant will receive points for the total distance completed in each leg of the triathlon.

  • The participant who rows the farthest will receive 1 point, the participant in second place will receive 2 points, etc.
  • The participant who bikes the farthest will receive 1 point, the participant in second place will receive 2 points, etc.
  • The participant who runs the farthest will receive 1 point, the participant in second place will receive 2 points, etc.

At the end of the race, the person with the lowest point total will be declared the winner.  Results will be tabulated for overall (all participants) and per gender (male/female).

Awards will be presented based on the results from the gender specific results as they may differ from the overall results.

Each participant will receive a black event t-shirt with the Falcon Indoor Triathlon logo on the front and sponsors on the back.
