September 18 Temporary Move to Remote Learning and Shelter-in-Place FAQs

Do:

  • Stay on campus
  • Get your meals in the UC
  • Follow any guidance already provided regarding quarantining or isolating if applicable

Don’t:

  • Go home
  • Go to work if that is possible
  • Leave campus for unnecessary trips

Yes, but students are encouraged to limit their movement in and out of the halls as much as possible for their own safety and the safety of the residence hall communities. 

Students who choose to leave campus should implement self-quarantine guidance once they arrive at their destination. 

Students can choose to return home, but it is not recommended. Please be aware that students who have chosen to return home should still implement self-quarantine guidance once home. If you are leaving, remember to take your necessary belongings. It is not guaranteed that you will be able to enter the residence halls at any time during the shelter-in-place order. 

Yes, students can come and get what they need. However, we do not recommend that students go home. If students choose to leave campus they need to do with the awareness that they might be putting family members and others in their home community at risk.

There may be an approval process in place for students who leave the residence halls with the intention of returning on October 3.

Yes, students may choose to return home and have family members may come and pick them up. However, we do not recommend that students go home.

We do not want students to go home if there is a chance that they have been exposed to COVID-19. 

Students may leave and return to campus to purchase things they need.

If students are in quarantine or isolation, they need to stay in quarantine and isolation and should not leave. These students should talk with their contact tracer to arrange getting the items that are needed.

You should talk with your direct supervisor before reporting to work. If possible, we recommend students do not go to work. All employees including student employees are asked to telecommute if possible; those whose work requires in-person presence can continue to work on campus.

The residence halls will remain open until further notice.

No, card access for residence halls will not be shut off.

There is no guarantee that the request to terminate your contract will be approved. Refunds are not guaranteed at this time for approved contract termination requests.

The Hathorn Mail Center every day 4-8 p.m. Students should not come to the mail center until they receive an email from hathornmailcenter@uwrf.edu to notify them of mail to pick up.

Yes, students can still go and get food at the University Center unless they currently guided to quarantine or isolate due to COVID-19 exposure or they are currently COVID-19 positive.

Care packages can be mailed to the student at their quarantine or isolation location.

Yes the dining spaces in the University Center will remain open.

Beginning Monday, September 21, UWRF will transition to an ''all virtual'' campus for two weeks. Instructors will be allowed time to transition their coursework as needed students should contact their instructors if they have questions. 

Yes, students may choose to go for a walk outside. Please practice safety measures of wearing a mask, watching your distance, and washing your hands.

Students may meet with their friends in small groups outside with masks and physical distancing measures in place. Please be mindful of who you are with and how long you spend with them for contact tracing measures.

The Falcon Center is currently closed.

Several campus departments are currently putting on virtual events. Check out the Corq app or MyOrgs event page for details, myorgs.uwrf.edu events

For all take and go events, students will be notified via email how to get their items.

In-person activity is not allowed. Some exceptions for a small number of safely conducted academic activities may be allowed. Exceptions should be requested through faculty or unit division leaders.
