Ferriss Retiring After 36 Years at UW-River Falls
After 36 years of teaching horticulture at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Terry Ferriss announced her retirement effective May 25 from the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (CAFES).
 
New Data Science Degree to be Offered at UW-River Falls
A Data Science and Predictive Analytics major will be available to students beginning spring 2016 at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The new major was approved by the UW System Board of Regents last week making UW-River Falls the only school in the University of Wisconsin System, one of only one or two schools in the Twin Cities metropolitan area and only a handful of universities nationwide to offer this leading-edge course of study to undergraduate students.
 
New Graduate Program to Prepare Math and Science Educators
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls has received final approval by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) for a new teaching licensure program with optional master’s degree. The first group of students with backgrounds in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) began classes in the STEMteach program on June 10.
 
Outdoor Summer Concert Series Begins June 23
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls annual free summer concert series, “Chill on the Hill,” kicks off Tuesday, June 23, in the Melvin Wall Amphitheatre, located on campus along the South Fork of the Kinnickinnic River.
 
Williams Named Adviser of the Year
Geology Professor Ian Williams has been named the 2015 Adviser of the Year at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Nominations for the award are solicited from graduating seniors and recent alumni, with the Faculty Senate Advising Committee making the selection.
