Before You Begin . . .

You should become familiar with the UW-River Falls style policies and guidelines which are determined by the university communications department. The style guide includes information on formatting and usage which helps us maintain consistency throughout our Web and printed pages.

Policies and Guidelines

Items to note:

• There is no space on either side of the hyphen in UW-River Falls.
• Recent change: Telephone number format does not include parentheses around the area code. 715-425-3911.
• Time is indicated using a.m. and p.m.; drop the :00 if there are no minutes; if you use the word "from" also use the word "to" (from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or simply 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m.).
• List the room number then the building (160 Davee Library).
  
• Use lower case for university when the word is alone, i.e., not part of the full title.

Do NOT duplicate information that is already posted.

Academic information in the catalog, policy information, and information "owned" by a department should not be copied and pasted to your subsite. It is recommended that you simply provide a link to the information. Duplicated information that was copy/pasted may result in two different versions of the content if the original gets updated but the copy does not.

A good way to check for existing content is to use the Google search UWRF field.

There are ways to display the information (XML Reader Element) on your page if it is necessary to include it there. You need to request access to use this element.
