Student Handbook

Library

The Chalmer Davee Library is dedicated to supporting the teaching, learning and research efforts of our students, faculty, staff, and the community.

When students enter the library, they will find a welcoming environment for study, work, and relaxation. Computer workstations, study rooms, collaborative study spaces, individual study areas, lounge seating, and designated quiet areas are located throughout the building. Laptops are also available for checkout.

The library collection includes thousands of books, government documents, scholarly journals, popular magazines, and newspapers in print and online, as well as DVD's and streaming videos. Students can use the Search@UW discovery tool to locate and request materials held at the Chalmer Davee Library as well as other libraries in the UW System and beyond.

Our staff helps student quickly and efficiently navigate to relevant information sources. Librarians meet regularly with classes and are available for personalized, one-on-one research assistance

The University Archives and Area Research Center (UWRF Archives) provides archival and manuscript primary source materials for use by students, faculty, staff, and the general public. The collections also include local and university history books, journals, newspapers on microfilm, photographs, museum artifacts, and the library's rare and unusual books. The UWRF Archives provides educational displays and exhibits, both physical and online.

The Chalmer Davee Library and the UWRF Archives participate in Minds@UW and the UW Digital Collections, collaborative online repositories for UW-System schools. Minds@UWRF provides access to scholarly materials produced by the students, staff, and faculty.
