Last weekend I went to my first NBA game ever and it was a great event!

I have no idea of basketball and most of the other traditional American sports, but I really wanted to make sure that I experience a good game and it was absolutely worth it. I just trusted on my friend´s choice for the game and we definitely had a great time watching those teams compete for the win. We went to the freshly renovated Target Center in Minneapolis to watch the game and even though we got tickets in the cheapest part of the stadium for about 80 dollars the view was great, and it felt so much closer than in a German soccer stadium. The Target Center is located right in the city center of Minneapolis and there is a bunch of bars, restaurants and hotels around.

I talked to some Americans before we got the tickets and I found out that basketball is a better sport if it comes to entertainment through the actual game but the shows during halftime and timeouts are still fascinating. Within five seconds a team of stage hands arranges trampolines and a guy costumed as a timberwolf starts flick flacking and dunking after jumping off a trampoline. During another timeout some guys shot free t-shirts with a t-shirt gun through the whole arena. Foods and drinks are a big part of a game as well but as far as I got it so far that´s just a part of the American culture :D

Another event this week was of course Halloween! Students being costumed everywhere even in unexpected places like the gym and the climbing wall. They even had a costume climb on 31st of October :D Kids were running around on campus as well as in the dorms doing trick or treat. A lot of Halloween parties were going on!

Last but not least: Now it´s official! After having the first snow last week (in October!!!) it only got colder, and winter is definitely coming. The temperatures we have right now in River Falls are pretty close to what we call winter in Germany. It´s somewhere around 0 degrees Celsius, it´s windy and quite nasty out there!
