UW-River Falls to offer free program on intellectual property and inventor resources

August 14, 2018 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls will host an education and networking event “Intellectual Property Basics and Local Inventor Resources” on Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 3-5 p.m. as part of a program aimed at small businesses, entrepreneurs and inventors.

The program will include a presentation from the Elijah J McCoy Midwest Regional United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Sessions include “Intellectual Property and Innovation Resources” by USPTO and “Your Business Development” by the St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center (SCVBIC) and WiSys. The event will conclude with a networking reception from 4:30 to 5 p.m.

“This event is an ideal opportunity to network with innovators, St. Croix Valley business leaders, university researchers, and others who have an interest in turning ideas into new products and services that benefit the public,” said Diane Bennett, director of grants and research at UW-River Falls.

The event will be held at the recently opened St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center, 1091 Sutherland Ave., River Falls. The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. To register for the event, visit https://www.stcroixinnovation.org/calendar-of-events

For additional information, contact the SCVBIC at 715-425-3066 or contact@stcroixinnovation.org or contact the USPTO Midwest Regional Office at 313-446-4800 or midwestregion@uspto.gov

The space is a collaborative partnership between UW-River Falls, the River Falls Economic Development Corporation, the City of River Falls and Chippewa Valley Technical College.
