UW-River Falls to celebrate Sustainability Month with events

September 24, 2019 – The University of Wisconsin-River Falls will host public events Oct. 1 to celebrate the kickoff of Sustainability Month. The events are part of the We are Falcons Values Series, which this month focuses on UWRF’s innovative sustainability efforts.

“Our events will bring a number of companies and local organizations that focus on climate action to educate and create a conversation around this important topic,” said Mark Klapatch, UW-River Falls sustainability and custodial supervisor. “These events are part of our broader campus sustainability education initiatives.”

Sustainability Day Fair is set for Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Riverview Ballroom in the University Center. This event will highlight campus, community, and regional groups supporting sustainability.

In addition, a Climate Action Panel is set for Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. in the Falcon’s Nest in the University Center. A panel will discuss climate action featuring campus, community, and regional organizations.

Each month the We are Falcons Values Series showcases events, speakers and activities that tie to one of UWRF’s value words: Student Centered, Innovation, Global Engagement, Academic Excellence, Inclusiveness and Integrity.

All sustainability events are free and open to the public. For more information, email elise.koop@uwrf.edu or mark.klapatch@uwrf.edu.
