UW-River Falls Offers Entrepreneurial Training Program

June 14, 2012--The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is offering an intensive training program for persons who desire to start their own businesses. The eight-session course begins July 10 at the UWRF Hudson Center, 2501 Hanley Road, Hudson.

Classes take place Tuesdays through Sept. 4 from 6-9 p.m. During the course, attendees will complete a business plan, the blueprint of every successful business. A $250 fee covers books and all class handouts. The course instructor is Steve DeWald, director of the UW-River Falls SBDC. The SBDC also offers business assistance and consultations at no cost to residents of Pierce, St. Croix and Polk counties.

Course topics include:

  • Cash flow – how to make the most of your cash flow
  • Target marketing – how to identify opportunities
  • Strategic planning – how to project your business over the next few years
  • Business plan – how to write a detailed, comprehensive business plan
  • Financial statements – how to take the mystery out of the income statement, balance sheet and other financial statements
  • Other topics cover planning and research, management and legal structure, financial overview of books and records, and managing your money.
