UW-River Falls Named a Top University Sales Program for Second Consecutive Year

April 30, 2015--The University of Wisconsin-River Falls has been recognized, once again, by the Sales Education Foundation (SEF) as one of the "Top Universities for Professional Sales Education" for 2015. Programs acknowledged in this way are noted by SEF as the best schools for preparing students for careers in professional selling and helping to elevate the sales profession.

Now in its second year, the Professional Sales program in the College of Business and Economics at UW-River Falls includes a newly-constructed state-of-the-art Sales Lab in South Hall that features video and audio recording technology for use in the classroom as well as a Center for Sales Excellence.

Ten students are currently enrolled in the business administration-marketing major, professional sales emphasis, and 42 students this past year have taken relationship selling, the sales course that has been offered thus far.

"We are very enthusiastic about the growth of this program and have many plans to expand the program offerings in the future through corporate partnerships and student engagement," said Ozcan Kilic, professor of management and marketing and primary contact for the program. "Businesses are excited to hire our ready-to-sell sales graduates and students in our program are looking forward to participating in sales competitions and other national events in the future. Our sales curriculum, student focused approach, and determination to serve UWRF constituencies are key factors for this success."

The Sales Education Foundation emphasizes that sales education is essential for the success of all business students and offers the following research in support:

  • While employment rates remain flat for recent college graduates, top sales programs average 92 percent job placement for their students (within three months of graduation).

  • Research shows that approximately 50 percent of all graduates with a business degree will enter the workforce in a sales-oriented role.

  • Sales graduates report their career satisfaction at over 77 percent. Starting salaries for professional sales representatives average over $56,000.

  • Students from sales programs average 2.8 job offers before graduation.
