UW-River Falls Art Faculty Exhibit at the Phipps Center for the Arts

Sept. 28, 2012--The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Art Department presents their art faculty exhibition at the Phipps Center for the Arts Oct. 19-Nov. 25.  A reception for the event is set for Oct. 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.   

Artists exhibiting work in the faculty show are: Randy Johnston, Morgan Clifford, Bernice Ficek-Swenson, Brett Kallusky, Dan Paulus, Peter Mak, Lyz Wendland, Stephanie deArmond, Jan McKeachie-Johnston, Michael Helke, Jeannine Kitzhaber, Ann Lawton, Lauren Herzak-Bauman, Eoin Breadon, Asako Nakauchi, Rhonda Willers and Heather Delisle.  Deceased emeriti faculty Kurt Wild, Walter Nottingham and Lynn Jermal will also be remembered by their artwork.   

The UWRF Art Department's mission is to provide in-depth and comprehensive exposure to and expertise in the visual arts, while providing a creative environment in which students develop aesthetic skills, conceptual thinking, visual awareness and technical expertise. UWRF student artwork will be on view at the Phipps, demonstrating this mission. 

In addition to the visual exhibition, there will be an art history lecture and glass blowing demonstration. UWRF art Historian Kaylee Spencer will give a talk on Mayan Architecture and Ritual in the Black Box Theater at the Phipps Center for the Arts on Oct.  24, at 6 p.m. UWRF art Assistant Professor Eoin Breadon will demonstrate glass blowing in 163 Kleinpell Fine Arts at UWRF on Oct. 27 at 10 a.m.    

Phipps gallery hours are: Sunday from noon-4:30 p.m.; Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Galleries are also open one hour prior to performances. All events are free and open to the public.
