May 6, 2011--University of Wisconsin-River Falls students will see many changes to campus when they head back to classes in the fall.
Projects in the resident halls include replacing exterior doors in Grimm Hall and McMillan Hall, rebuilding the elevator car in Hathorn Hall, replacing tiles in student rooms and remodeling the restrooms in Crabtree Hall. Stratton Hall will be getting a new roof, and elevators will be added to Johnson Hall and Crabtree Hall.
Other projects around campus include building an intramural storage shed located at the intramural fields. Classroom modernization is scheduled for Room 200 and 231Agriculture Science Hall, 120 South Hall and 205 North Hall. A hoop barn will be added at the Mann Valley Laboratory Farm for the campus’ swine unit. Many parking lots will also get a facelift.
“The biggest construction project that is happening on campus is the new South Fork Suites addition,” says Tim Thum, senior facilities engineer.
In hopes of opening for students in fall 2012, the new addition to the George R. Field South Fork Suites, called “South Fork II,” will include a four-story suite-style arrangement housing approximately 240 students.
