March 2, 2023 - Three women, including University of Wisconsin-River Falls Chancellor Maria Gallo, will be featured speakers as part of the university’s Women’s History Month celebration this month.

The Women’s History Month Series, co-sponsored by the UWRF Diversity, Belonging and Inclusion and Women’s, Gender and Sexualities Studies departments, is intended to highlight the many contributions of women to society.

Speakers include Dana Thompson, a trans woman who is a special education supervisor in the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage (Minn.) School District, on Wednesday, March 8; Gallo on Wednesday, March 22; and Dr. Morgan Barnum, a Hudson physician, on Wednesday, March 29. All three speeches will take place at noon in the Falcon’s Nest in the University Center, 501 Wild Rose Ave., River Falls. All are free and open to the public.

The speakers are expected to discuss various topics such as women’s health care access, pay equity and other issues in which women continue to struggle for equality, said Alan Toussaint, coordinator of UWRF’s Pride Center and coordinator of Women’s History Month events.
