Small Business Development Center receives statewide honor

May 31, 2018 – The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Small Business Development Center (SBDC) received statewide recognition as the Center of the Year at the Wisconsin SBDC Network Conference in Milwaukee May 3.

In 2017, the SBDC assisted 122 local businesses including 19 business starts leading to $3 million in capital infusion. Additionally, the center has graduated 20 local entrepreneurs from its 10-week Entrepreneurial Training Program.

“It is an honor to be selected as the SBDC Center of the Year in the state of Wisconsin,” said SBDC Director Danielle Campeau. “Our office has worked hard to provide a wide range of services to an even wider range of businesses, contributing to the vibrancy of the business community in our region.”

“The WI-SBDC is an incredible network of talented, hardworking individuals creating powerful economic growth statewide through the support of local entrepreneurs,” said SDBC Business Consultant Katherine Fossler. “We are very pleased to be recognized.”

Two local businesses, Mei Mei's Cookies and Creamery and Swinging Bridge Brewery, were recently recognized as SBDC success stories.

The Small Business Development Center is under the umbrella of the UWRF College of Business and Economics and provides no-cost business consulting to small businesses in Pierce, St. Croix and Polk counties. It fulfills a key university goal of fostering innovation and partnerships and recently moved its operations into the brand-new St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center in River Falls.
