Six UW-River Falls students receive sustainable management academic scholarships

October 4, 2018 - Six University of Wisconsin-River Falls students enrolled in the online Bachelor of Science in sustainable management degree completion program have each received $800 awards this fall.

Recipients of Sustainable Management Academic Scholarships are Haley Ryan of Baraboo; Javier Barbosa-Mireles of Madison; Heather Bonner of Dunedin, Fla.; Derrick Noll of Post Falls, Idaho; Matthew Soma of Zumbrota, Minn.; and Jayson Burrow of Hager City.

“Our degree completion program in sustainable management is designed for individuals who have an associate’s degree or some transferable college credits and wish to complete a bachelor’s degree,” said Angela Whitaker, program manager, UWRF Continuing Education. “Students will acquire the business skills and knowledge needed to promote sustainability with their current employer and become the sustainability leader employers need.”

Designed for working adults, all classes are available online with no required campus visits. Scholarships are available in the fall and spring for both new and continuing students to help pay for their education. Currently enrolled students are eligible if they have completed at least two courses, maintained a 2.75 or higher grade point average and submitted an online application and personal essay. New students taking their first course in the program are eligible to apply for a New Student Scholarship.

Students may be admitted into the program and start their classes in the fall, spring or summer terms. The UW Sustainable Management Program is a collaborative effort between UW-Extension, UW-River Falls and five other UW campuses.
