Senior Exhibition at UW-River Falls Focuses on Photography

Feb. 21, 2012--University of Wisconsin-River Falls seniors Paul Veit and Sarah Olson will be presenting their BFA Degree Exhibition in Gallery 101 of the Kleinpell Fine Arts building at UW-River Falls from Feb. 29- March 7. Veit will be displaying a collection of panoramic photos of graffiti on the Berlin Wall. Olson will be exhibiting her portrait photography.

Veit, a fine arts major from Oakdale, Minn., lived and researched in Berlin for three months with the Study Abroad: Europe program. His research was focused on the photo documentation of graffiti on the Berlin Wall. By taking hundreds of photos and then combining them digitally he was able to create one seamless panoramic photograph that represents roughly 1,000 feet of the wall. He will be displaying portions of this collection.

Olson, a fine arts major with a minor in ceramics from St. Paul, strives to capture the sight and feel of the space between the photographer and the subject. As a viewer she hopes you will see the subjects for who they are, whether it is that mask of uncertainty or what the subject chooses to show behind that mask.

An exhibition reception is March 2 from 5-7 p.m. in Gallery 101. The exhibit and event are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Sundays from 2-4 p.m. For more information, contact the UWRF Art Department at 715-425-3266.
