Scholarship Reception Brings Donors and Students Together; Record Setting Number of Scholarships and Total Dollars Distributed

November 6, 2014—The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Foundation hosted its annual Scholarship Reception Oct. 26 bringing together scholarship donors and their respective student-recipients. This year, more than 850 scholarships were awarded, totaling more than $925,000 in financial support to students of all backgrounds. Both the number of scholarships and the total dollars distributed were record setting numbers.  

"I am pleased to report that the UW-River Falls Foundation now ranks second among the UW System comprehensive universities for student scholarship funding," said Chris Mueller, assistant chancellor of University Advancement and president of the UW-River Falls Foundation. "This would not be possible without the tremendous generosity and confidence, you as donors, place in the Foundation to wisely manage its funds." 

"The annual Scholarship Reception is one of the most gratifying events I attend all year," said UW-River Falls Chancellor Dean Van Galen. "There is simply nothing more magical than witnessing our hardworking and deserving students meeting face-to-face, for the very first time, with the individual who invested in their future."

"Thanks to the generous scholarship I received, I was able to study abroad. This inspiring and transforming experience is something I will use to educate my future students in a well-rounded, culturally relevant way," said Amara Treuenfels, a senior majoring in elementary education, who also spoke at the event. "For all that you do, and have done, I would like to thank each and every donor here tonight on behalf of the students at UW-River Falls."
