The relationship between UWRF’s Animal and Food Science Department and 3M Food Safety Department (previously 3M Microbiology) spans more than three decades. 3M has supported the Food and Microbiology program’s academic mission by providing industry insight, advice and counsel, materials and monetary funds.

They have also partnered with UWRF in academic programs, applied research projects, international outreach and food industry collaborations. The 3M Food Safety Department has sponsored many well-known speakers for the UWRF Food Microbiology Symposium, a conference that has achieved international acclaim.

Award nominator Purnendu Vasavada, professor of food science, says, “They have been an invaluable source of technical information, professional contacts with the industry and international colleagues and institutions.”

Kevin McGoldrick, global technical service and regulatory affairs manager accepted the honor on behalf of 3M Food Safety.

“The wonderful collaboration over the years has been beneficial to 3M, customers, UW-River Falls and students,” says McGoldrick.
