Falcon Center receives seven AEDs from Allina Health River Falls Area Hospital
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls has received seven new automated external defibrillators (AEDs) donated by Allina Health River Falls Area Hospital. The AEDs will be placed in the Falcon Center, the new health and recreation complex on campus, just in time for American Heart Month.
 
Free Friday noon concert series presented at UW-River Falls
The Frances Cohler Coffee Concert Series at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls is a unique concert series featuring performances by UW-River Falls music faculty as well as guest artists from around the world. The concerts, held at noon on selected Fridays throughout the academic year, are free and open to the public and are followed by coffee and treats.
 
Memories resound for Berkhof as Karges Center era closes
Jeff Berkhof still remembers the first time he saw the R.A. Karges Center on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. "It was the spring of 1992 and I was visiting campus for the first time as a prospective student," said Berkhof. "I thought Karges was just fine. It looked like a great place to play. I never imagined there would be a day when it wouldn't be big enough or adequate enough.” Twenty-five years later, Berkhof, now head men's basketball coach at UW-River Falls, is preparing to say goodbye to the R.A. Karges Center - affectionately known as Karges - for the final time.
 
Spring semester public astronomy talks and observatory viewings at UW-River Falls
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Physics Department begins its spring season of free public observatory viewings and astronomy talks on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Objects to be seen include planets, globular clusters, open clusters, nebulae, galaxies, moons, and double stars.
 
UW-River Falls alum honored with Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers
Alumnus Alan Kruizenga has been named a recipient of a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). Former President Obama named 102 scientists and researchers as recipients of the award last month.
 
UW-River Falls and Chippewa Valley Bean celebrate canning anniversary
An anniversary was celebrated on campus earlier this month with the traditional congratulatory cake and the not-so-traditional can of kidney beans. For 20 years, Chippewa Valley Bean (CVB) has partnered with the University of Wisconsin-River Falls to assess the canning quality of kidney bean lines under development.
 
UW-River Falls Dance Theatre to Present Annual Spring Concert 2017
UWRF Dance Theatre, a modern dance company, has brought an artistic dance program to students who love to dance for over 30 years. UWRF Dance Theatre strives to provide rich dance experiences and performances to River Falls and the surrounding communities.
 
UW-River Falls receives 70 recycling bins through Public Space Recycling Bin Grant Program
Keep America Beautiful and The Coca-Cola Company have awarded 70 recycling bins to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Keep America Beautiful and The Coca-Cola Company are working together to address one of the primary barriers to recycling in public spaces by making access to recycling bins more readily available and convenient through the 2016 Coca-Cola/Keep America Beautiful Public Space Recycling Bin Grant Program.
 
UW-River Falls to host discussion about the effect of fake news on democracy
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is hosting a panel discussion, "The Effect of Fake News on Democracy," Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. in North Hall auditorium. The discussion is part of the Communication & Media Studies Department's Working Journalists Lecture Series.
