February 18, 2019 – The Falcon Center at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls received the NIRSA Outstanding Sports Facilities Award during the organization’s national conference in Boston over the weekend. NIRSA is a nationally recognized association that supports and promotes the benefits of recreation at the collegiate level.
The award is only given out to about 10 facilities from across the nation each year for “exemplifying the institution’s commitment to providing the higher education experience desired and valued by students. The award honors facilities that demonstrate excellence in a number of critical areas including architectural design, functionality, and how well the facility meets its intended purpose.”
Opened on Sept. 21, 2017, the Falcon Center for Health, Education and Wellness is a comprehensive indoor and outdoor facility that supports Health & Human Performance, Falcon Athletics, Campus Recreation, and the university as a whole.
The Falcon Center at UW-River Falls is comprised of a 15,000 square foot fitness center, three academic classrooms, one active learning classroom, a state-of-the-art performance lab, three multi-purpose studios, indoor climbing center, auxiliary gym, NCAA competition venues for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's track and field, volleyball, softball, soccer, and football.
