April 1, 2019 - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Dance Theatre will present its annual spring concert April 10-13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Blanche Davis Theatre in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building.

Admission is $5 for students and children, $8 for seniors (60+), $10 for adults, and free for UWRF students with ID. Tickets can be purchased at the University Theatre Box Office Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and at 6:30 p.m. on performance nights, by phone at 715-425-3114, or online at http://marketplace.uwrf.edu/collections/dance-theatre.

A modern dance company, UWRF Dance Theatre, has brought an artistic dance program to students who love dance for over 35 years. Dance Theatre strives to provide rich dance experiences and performance to River Falls and surrounding communities.

The concert features the work of UWRF Dance Theatre alumni, current students, faculty, and professionals and will include diverse dance forms from belly dance, contemporary, jazz, modern, and tap to contemporary/hip-hop fusion.

Visiting Winona State University Professor Erinn Liebhard has restaged her rhythmic jazz dance, Juncture, for the concert. The dance explores the human need for a sense of belonging with expressive Americana music as the guide. Minneapolis choreographer Danielle Ricci has worked collaboratively with her dancers to create Circumstantial Encounters which investigates how relationships form for different people with movement sequences constructed through emotional and physical experimentation. Unstuck, by alumni choreographer Shauna Malloy, fuses a diverse selection of belly dance forms into an exuberant display of expression emphasizing complex movement progressions. Alumni choreographer Salvatore D’Agostino uses comedy and farfetched drama to tell a tale of battling brides. Bridezilla, a playful tap dance, employs complex footwork and humorous storytelling to stage a scuffle that will tickle the funny bone.
