Byron Hurt Lecture at UW-River Falls Rescheduled

October 2, 2013—The Wyman Series event at UW-River Falls, an evening with Byron Hurt featuring his critically acclaimed film, "Soul Food Junkies," has been rescheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts building. The event is free and open to the public.

Hurt addresses provocative topics such as race, gender, and violence through his films, writings, and lectures. He will begin the evening with a screening of his acclaimed film, "Soul Food Junkies," which explores the health advantages and disadvantages of Soul Food, a quintessential American cuisine. Hurt uses Soul Food as the lens to investigate the dark side of the food industry and the growing food justice movement that has been born in its wake.

Additional screenings of "Soul Food Junkies" are set for Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. in the Falcon's Nest in the University Center. The screenings are free and open to the public.

The PEACE Dialogue event associated with the Wyman Series lecture is Thursday, Oct. 10 from 9:30-11 a.m. in the Falcon's Nest in the University Center. Join Hurt and the YWCA of Minneapolis for a discussion on Food. The dialogue is free and open to the public.
