Meet Brandy Coulthart

Sophomore Brandy Coulthart served in the U.S. Marine Corps between 2011 and 2015. She met her husband while they were both stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. They have two children, one born a month after her husband deployed overseas with the 11^th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

In addition to her studies, Coulthart works a full-time job and enjoys spending time with her family. She’s been very involved in the UWRF Veterans Club, serving as treasurer this year and previously as vice president. The group’s activities include picking up litter along a section of Hwy 35 near River Falls for the Adopt-a-Highway program.

“I chose UW-River Falls because I know quite a few successful teachers who have graduated from here,” said Coulthart. “My transition from the Marine Corps to college life has had its share of ups and downs, but my professors have been understanding, and it’s nice to have the Veterans Lounge as a place for us to gather and unwind.”
