Award-winning investigative reporter to speak at UW-River Falls March 9


March 6, 2023 - Randy Travis, an award-winning investigative reporter for the FOX 5 television station in Atlanta, Ga., is this semester's speaker for the Communication and Media Seminar at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. His topic will be "Investigative Journalism: American Patriotism."

The seminar is scheduled from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, in North Hall Auditorium on campus. It is free and open to the public.

Travis began his journalism career as a sports writer for his hometown newspaper, the Athens Banner-Herald in Georgia, but later switched to television. He joined WAGA-TV (FOX 5) in 1990 and four years later became part of the station's investigative unit.

He was earned numerous honors for his work, including a Peabody Award, two national Edward R. Murrow awards, and 20 regional Emmys.

The seminar is sponsored by the UWRF Communication and Media Studies Department.
