Alternative instruction extended to end of semester

March 16, 2020

Dear UWRF Campus Community:

I am writing to inform you that, given the latest information we have received about the evolution of COVID-19, UW-River Falls has decided to continue with alternative modes of delivery of instruction and services through the end of spring semester. We acknowledge that this news creates additional challenges for students, faculty, instructors and staff. The current threat UWRF and our community is facing, however, means that we must be true to our core values such as academic excellence, innovation and being student centered, even in new and creative ways. We remain committed to providing a high quality education in these unprecedented times, while also upholding our commitment to protecting the health and safety of our campus and community as much as possible.

The Provost’s Office will work with colleges and departments this week to continue supporting the transition to alternative modes of delivery, including to adapt to this new extended timeline. Students can expect to hear directly from their instructors with additional details the week of March 30, when classes are scheduled to resume. There are other decisions which are still pending, including in reference to commencement and residence hall move-out. We will do our best to be responsive to the needs of our students and will provide such updates as soon as they are available.

Please know that I greatly appreciate your flexibility during this uncertain and rapidly evolving situation. Please take care of yourselves.

Sincerely,

Dean Van Galen, Ph.D.
Chancellor
