7th Annual Bowls for Hope Event to Benefit Assistance and Resource Center (ARC)

January 22, 2016 -- Each March the University of Wisconsin-River Falls works with the community to raise funds through the Bowls for Hope event where proceeds raised help a worthy organization make a difference in the St. Croix Valley. Assistance and Resource Center, Inc. (ARC) has been selected as the benefiting organization this year.

The 2016 Bowls for Hope event is Tuesday, March 8, from 5-7 p.m. at UW-River Falls. Tickets are on sale now.

For an entrance fee of $25/adult and $5/children age 12 and under, participants at the event may select and keep a bowl created in ceramic, pottery, fibers, wood and glass studio classes at UW-River Falls, River Falls High School, Meyer Middle School, the Renaissance Academy, or by area artists. Attendees may also sample, at no extra charge, soups donated and served by area restaurants. Guests have the opportunity to vote for their favorite soup. This year, a "Chefs' Choice Award" will also be awarded to the soup favored by the chefs participating in the event.

ARC provides short-term financial assistance to members of the community to help meet basic needs and provide access to additional resources. ARC believes that we are a community of neighbors who should care for one another in times of need.

"The board members of ARC are incredibly honored and humbled to be this year's Bowls for Hope recipient," said Paige Miller, a grant writer and ARC board member. "More than the provision of financial assistance to families and individuals in need, ARC's vision is to create, at some small level, both a greater sense of dignity and hope for those we directly serve and also solidarity in the community at large. We know, however, that we couldn't do the work we do without the support of a variety of agencies and fundraisers--like Bowls for Hope."
