These steps will help make your transition to becoming a River Falls student as smooth as possible!

Submit Your Deposit
You are encouraged to make a tuition deposit to verify your intent to enroll.
Enrollment deposits will be accepted until the university has reached its enrollment limits.
You will need your ID number and application number that was included in your admission letter.

Apply for Scholarships
The deadline for the new $2500 Falcon Transfer Scholarships (3.25 GPA or higher posted at the time of application to receive full consideration) for Summer and Fall transfers is April 1st. Students are able to apply for scholarships after activating their Falcon Account. Complete the general application at https://uwrf.academicworks.com/users/sign_in. This website will match students with the UWRF scholarships they are eligible for.
Apply for Housing
All freshmen and sophomore students who do not meet exemption requirements are required to live in university residence halls. It is important for all accepted students to go to the Residence Hall Portal early. The earlier you pay your housing deposit and complete the contract, the more likely Residence Life will be able to honor your hall preferences. You will need your Falcon Account to access the portal. Contact Residence Life if you have questions.
Get Involved through FalconSync
Log-in with your Falcon Account to FalconSync and connect with UWRF student organizations. There are more then 150 clubs and organizations that you can join!
Apply for Financial Aid
For Fall transfers, fill out and submit the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in March during the priority period. This form is available online or from the Financial Aid Office at River Falls. For Spring and Summer Transfers, update your current FAFSA by adding UW-River Falls to your FAFSA as soon as possible. We encourage you to contact the Financial Aid office here early and often after being admitted as a transfer student!

If you have not already visited campus, schedule your visit now! You can arrange a weekly tour and information session or attend one of our Visit Days, which are special programs that give you a closer look at the university. Check our Visiting Campus page for more information.
Apply for Tuition Reciprocity (MN Residents)
If you are a Minnesota resident, be sure to fill out the Reciprocity Form. This simple form will allow you to pay a tuition rate comparable to what is charged to Wisconsin residents and is available from the Minnesota Higher Education Services Office.
Take Placement Tests
UW System placement tests are required for all new students who have not completed college-level courses in English or Math. Refer to our Placement Test Information webpage and your Transfer Credit Evaluation to determine if you need to take the placement test. Students attending UW-River Falls who are not able to take their placement tests during the Regional Placement Testing Program can take them the day before their registration date. Questions can be directed to the Admissions Office by phone at (715) 425-3500 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Register for Classes
Attend a New Student Registration program. Students starting in the Fall typically may sign up for registration in February at go.uwrf.edu/register and in December for students starting in the spring. When you attend the registration program, you'll meet with your academic adviser, learn the online registration process, meet other new students and leave campus with a complete class schedule.
Send Final Transcripts
Don't forget to send us your final college transcripts! We'll verify that you've successfully completed your most recent term, post important updates to your degree-audit here for AA degree or MnTC completion, and update your class standing to help maximize your financial aid award. Students typically cannot register for their 2nd semester of classes here until a final transcript is received by the Admissions Office.
Attend "Week of Welcome"
Arrive on campus for Week of Welcome and spend a week meeting other new students, getting to know campus and making a smooth transition to college. Participation in this program is strongly encouraged for all new students. An abbreviated program for commuter students will also be held in September.
Begin classes in September (Fall semester) or January (Spring semester).
