to the UWRF Physics Department, part of the University of Wisconsin System's Center of Excellence for Undergraduate Physics and Chemistry. The Physics Department is dedicated to helping students learn physics by providing a rigorous curriculum and supportive environment. Our mission includes excellent teaching, individualized advising, quality scholarship and public outreach.

UWRF is now a member of the Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium, run through NASA, providing students across campus access to numerous space and aerospace grants, internships and programs (Fall, 2008).

Dr. Jim Madsen was recognized as the UWRF Distinguished Teacher for 2007.

Interactions magazine (March/April 2007) listed UWRF Physics in their national honor roll of 'thriving' undergraduate physics departments.
