UWRF Men's Chorus
Zebulon Highben, Director
Myth and legend surround the founding of the River Falls Men's Chorus. In the spring of 1998 three male students asked the director of the UWRF Women's Chorus if she would let them join the all-female vocal ensemble. "No," she said, "but if you can get another male to sing with you, you can start a quartet." Thus marked the debut of the Men's Quartet, under the direction of Sarah Parks. By the following year the "quartet" had grown to over sixteen members and become a true Men's Chorus.
Currently, the Men's Chorus is conducted by Zebulon Highben. It is open to all men in the St. Croix Valley. The choir rehearses Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 11:15 - 12:05 in the chorus room of the Kleinpell Fine Arts Center. Repertoire includes all styles and periods of mens' choral literature, from early chant and sacred polyphony to operatic works, music theater, jazz, and pop.
