University Police transitions to certified police force
The University Police department has transitioned from public safety to a certified police force and has a new UWRF University Police vehicle. The department name will change to Univeristy Police and Parking as the department hires two certified police officers. The decision was made to transition after a UW System study and a State of Wisconsin Governor's study recommended that all universities have licensed police officers on staff. Photo by Jens Gunelson.
University police officers take Oath of Honor
From left to right, Chief of Police Richard Trende and officers Steven Nygaard and Matthew Peterson took the Oath of Honor as University police officers administered by Chancellor Connie Foster yesterday in North Hall. The UWRF Police Department now consists of both police officers and public safety officers. All UW System campuses have or are transitioning to university police departments.
