Timeline

January

The UWRF Student Billing office notifies students that spring semester statements are available to view through the eSIS Student Portal. Please see Tuition Bills for more information.

Early February

Spring financial aid is credited to your account, provided all Financial Aid items on your eSIS To Do List are completed. New (both first year and transfer) students must have submitted an official High School Transcript to the Admissions Office showing your graduation date for financial aid to disburse.

If you have excess financial aid after your charges are paid, a refund is processed shortly after. To receive your refund, you must set up direct deposit. Please see Refunds for more information and instructions. 

March - May

If you are planning on taking summer classes, fill out a summer financial aid application AFTER you have registered for summer courses.

April 15

Tax deadline with the IRS.

June

Satisfactory Academic Progress is evaluated for financial aid recipients. By federal regulations, you must be making progress to continue to receive federal and state financial aid.

Continuing students begin to receive their Financial Aid Offer Letters via UWRF email for the upcoming school year.

Summer

If you are borrowing a Federal Direct Loan for the first time next fall, you must complete the online Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note (MPN): View the First-time Federal Student Loan Borrower Instructions on how to complete these items.

August

October

Admitted Incoming Freshmen for the following school year: complete the UW-River Falls Scholarship Application.

Complete your FAFSA as early as possible so that your aid is packaged in time for the start of fall semester and so that all aid types you may be eligible for are still available. The 2023-2024 FAFSA was open as of October 1, 2022, and the 2024-2025 FAFSA is expected to open in December 2023. We will update our website when we have the exact date.

November

Current/Continuing Students: complete the UW-River Falls Scholarship Application.

December

The 2024-2025 FAFSA is expected to open in December 2023. We will update our website when we have the exact date.

Please monitor your UWRF email for any communications regarding your academic progress as it relates to aid eligibility..
