The Agricultural Studies major provides student with a breadth of knowledge across many areas of agriculture, food, and environmental sciences. A relatively large set of elective courses allows students to customize their program to meet their individual needs. The agricultural studies major also requires a minor, which provides students with a deeper understanding of one aspect of agriculture. This major is suitable for students interested in a variety of agricultural jobs including sales or production agriculture.
The faculty in the Agricultural Studies program includes all faculty in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences. Because of the flexibility offered by this major, faculty in every department can be part of each individualized student program. Many CAFES faculty have received public recognition for outstanding teaching and all of the faculty are strongly committed to teaching and learning.
The College facilities include excellent classrooms, general and specialized laboratories for different disciplines, computer labs, a greenhouse and lab farms. The two lab farms include animal and associated crop production enterprises providing a vital resource for teaching and student employment.
Agricultural Studies is an interdisciplinary major requiring courses from each of the five departments in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences. The program is managed by the Office of the Dean; academic advising is provided by faculty members from the college.
