The agricultural education major . . .
provides the knowledge
and skills needed for
success in a range of
agricultural fields. While Agricultural Education A program in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences Goals and ObjectivesThe agricultural education major provides students with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to be successful professionals. Student organizations, work with 4-H and FFA members, and internships are all valued parts of the program. While the program is designed to meet the requirements for an agricultural education teaching license in Wisconsin, its design closely follows the Minnesota licensure requirements as well. ProgramThis program includes a mix of technical agriculture, professional education, and agricultural education courses. The major does not require a minor, but many students choose to complete one. In addition to the required classes, students must complete field experience hours, agricultural experience hours, and state-mandated tests for program completion to receive a teaching license. FacultyThe agricultural education department faculty and staff support student development through teaching, academic advising, and advising student organizations. Courses supporting the major are taught by faculty from other departments both within the college and from across campus. To supplement classroom experiences, students utilize modern and well-equipped laboratories, computer facilities, three food processing pilot plants, and two laboratory farms.
