Our Program

Pre-MajorYes, it is okay to be undecided! At UW-River Falls, the Academic Success Center works with all students that are undecided in their major. River Falls faculty and staff are committed to ensuring that Pre-Major students at River Falls will have every opportunity to explore what the university has to offer them in terms of degree programs.

As a Pre-Major student you will be encouraged to explore all campus resources while focusing on completing General Education requirements at the university. To help with this you will have one-on-one advising by a professional advisor until you decide on a major. This advisor will work with you to connect you with faculty in majors that you may be interested in as well as our career services office and tutoring services office; both of which are critical to student success at River Falls.

Because of the resources available to these students, Pre-Major students are often the most prepared students upon graduation and tend to be more successful on campus because they have a greater understanding of what resources are available to them. The office is well organized and committed to helping students succeed!

Career Services

Career Services offers students opportunities to get a head-start on exploring careers and gaining essential experience to succeed after graduation. You will find resources to help you get involved in career related events, meet with career counselors to discuss specific topics, and tips to prepare for the job and/or graduate school processes. Obtaining experience related to your field of study is important before you graduate so that you have noteworthy experiences for adding to your resume. Having numerous experiences related to your field will help you to compete with your peers and professionals with years of experience for desirable positions. This office is key for all Pre-Major students and we encourage you to visit it early and often!

Global. Innovative. Excellent.

Many students study abroad prior to graduation and it is a great way for students to explore various majors and career options. The Academic Success Center suggests students participate in the Wisconsin in Scotland or the Experience China programs, as they offer excellent opportunities to get general education courses completed and still stay on track to graduate in four years!

Wisconsin in Scotland

The Wisconsin in Scotland (WIS) program is an amazing experience that offers virtually limitless opportunities for educational and personal growth. It is an opportunity full of challenges, new experiences, and great rewards. Students live in a Scottish palace and can participate for either one semester, for the academic year, or for the six-week summer program. Courses are taught by River Falls faculty and faculty from participating universities. The program is located in Dalkeith, Scotland.

Experience China

Hangzhou, China is home to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Experience China program, where students throughout the University of Wisconsin system and beyond live and take classes during either the fall or spring semester. Students live in a safe and well-supported learning community on the campus of Zhejiang International Studies University (ZISU). Classes are taught in English by American and Chinese professors.
