MAJORS

Master of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology 

 

Health & Physical Education with Pre- K-12 Teacher Certification

(Teacher Certification in Health and Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education Minor highly recommended)  A comprehensive blended program (plus professional preparation classes) that qualifies graduates to teach Pre-K-12 Health & Physical Education in the public/private school setting. 

Exercise and Sport Science

(minor required)  This program is designed for students who seek careers in a broad range of areas related to exercise and sport science, including:  cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, personal training, sport management, corporate wellness center, coaching, physical and occupational therapy, and health promotion.  The program prepares students who plan to continue their education at the graduate level in any Kinesiology sub-discipline (athletic training, biomechanics, cardiac rehabilitation, sport management, sport psychology).  Upon graduation students are required to take the ACSM or NSCA certification exam.

Health and Wellness Management (HWM)

Experiential Learning

At UW-River Falls you will have numerous opportunities to immerse yourself in real world situations. Dependent on your specific goals you may enjoy experiences within public schools, fitness centers, and athletic/sports teams.

International opportunities include overseas student teaching, Wisconsin in Scotland, semester abroad, and National Student Exchange Program.

State of the art technology

Students are taught how to design curriculum and present projects using a variety of media and technology. Technology is infused into academic preparation through a variety of the department's course offerings. Interactive computer software is an integral part of the teaching methods and biomechanics courses which incorporates digital video analysis of movement.
