Credential File - what is it?
A Credential File is merely your letters of recommendation stapled to an official cover page which contains an official seal of the university where you received your education degree (see Credential Cover link below).
A Credential File contains 2 items:
- Credential Cover
A credential cover validates for school districts that you have successfully completed a program in the College of Education at UWRF. School districts will verify this information. If you have not yet completed your program, in the space where you type your area(s) of certification, type the words "Will be certified in: ".
Credential Cover (Fill-in)
Print after filling-in your name and area(s) of certification.
- 2-8 Letters of Recommendation
See "Letters of Recommendation" section above
Having UWRF send your Credential File to school districts
Some school districts will not accept Credential Files submitted directly from applicants and may require that credential files be mailed directly from the university where you graduated. In such rare instances, UWRF Career Services will mail your Credential File for you to school districts for a fee of $10.00 per copy.
To obtain this service, you must provide Career Services with:
- A copy(ies) of your Self Credential File (includes a Cover Page and 2-8 Letters of Reference).
- Mailing address(es) of the school(s) to which you are applying.
- A check for $10.00/ea Credential File mailed by our office.
Visit or contact our Career Services Office to obtain this service.
Where is my Credential File that I had set-up at Career Services years ago?
Credential files with content and references older than 5 years should not be used during your job search. Please obtain new references, a new copy of your official transcripts, and a new credential file cover if your credential file is older than 5 years. Our office has discontinued storing credential files in our office. Any questions about the formal process that our office went through for discontinuing the Credential File Service should be directed to our Career Services Office Manager at (715) 425-3572.
