University Theatre to present ‘Amor and More: A Valentine’s Cabaret’


February 3, 2020 – University Theatre at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls will present “Amor and More: A Valentine’s Cabaret” Thursday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m. and Friday-Saturday, Feb. 14-15, at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. in the Syse Black Box Theatre in Kleinpell Fine Arts.

This valentine’s cabaret features magnificent and melancholy melodies from Porter to present. Last year, students asked for the opportunity to create their own musical show and a class was created for that purpose with Joy Amel, of the UWRF Music Department, as guest artist as the instructor and vocal coach.

Student vocal performers are: Josée Axberg of North Branch, Minn.; Rebecca Donley of Mounds View, Minn.; Claire Eckert of Clear Lake; Mitchell Engel of Jordan, Minn.; Brooke Hafner of St. Paul; Ryan Huling of Farmington, Minn.; Emily Jackson of Pickett; Sam Jacobson of St. Paul; Marcus Meyer of Prescott; Mackenzie Newkirk of Menomonie; Megan Rielly of Spring Valley; and Jan Rozumalski of Luck.

Student instrumentalists are: Caroline Connolly of Appleton on alto and baritone saxophone; Maggie Woletz of Ellsworth on trombone; Blake Radke of Bayport, Minn., on bass (Feb. 13 and Feb. 15); Robyn Pfeifer of Hammond on bass (Feb. 14); Lucas West of Cumberland on cajon; and Nick Hammerschmidt of Stillwater, Minn., on trumpet.

Cast and crew members are: Sam Jacobson of St. Paul and Jan Rozumalski of Luck as master of ceremony; Rebecca Donley of Mounds View, Minn., assistant director, Paige Jurek of Silver Lake, Minn., and Devon Sundt of Osceola, stage managers; Corinna Brose of Little Falls, Minn., greeter and costume shop liaison; Rachael Buckallew of Little Falls, Minn., Maître d’hôtel; Grace Carey of Prescott, house manager and usher; Noah Frank of St. Paul, lights; Bailey Hudak of Medford, sound; MaKayla Haffner of Gresham, server.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (60 and up) and $5 for UWRF students with ID and children under 18. There are also premium two-person tables for $35. Light refreshments will be served to patrons of the two-person tables. Tickets can be reserved in person at the Box Office, online at marketplace.uwrf.edu or by calling 715-425-3114. The Box Office is near Gallery 101 in Kleinpell Fine Arts and is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is also open one hour prior to each performance.
