Under the expressed wish of Annette Blanchette and the Margis Family, an endowment fund has been established. This fund was first created with a principle gift from Annette Blanchette, followed by memorial gifts honoring Sally Margis added to the original endowment.
The 2012 winners were announced at the Classified Employee Holiday Luncheon.
Purpose:
The endowment was established to generate an annual award to develop, through education and/or training, a classified employee's career at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The amount granted is to be used to support direct or indirect costs associated with career development. Examples of direct costs may include educational tuition and workshop/conference fees (relating to career development). Examples of indirect costs may include textbooks, special equipment, software, and daycare expenses.
Criteria:
Applicants must be a Classified permanent, project, or recurring limited term employee at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Applicants must fill out the Sally Margis Classified Employee Development Award Form and provide a statement of intent, limited to two pages, which includes the following information:
*Funds must used within one year from the date of the award.
Selection Committee:
The Classified Staff Advisory Council will review submissions and make recommendation(s) to the Chancellor, who will make the final decision. The award may be divided among multiple candidates. The Chancellor will announce the final award(s) at the Spring 2013 Opening Meeting.

Sally Margis Classified Employee Development 2012 Award Applications must be sent to the Office of the Chancellor, 116 North Hall, no later than Friday, November 30, 2012. The application can be submitted electronically, please read instructions on the top of the application form.
The amount available for 2012 is $350. The award will go to a classified employee(s) who has met the application requirements.
