ACT Classes Offered Live-Online

Our ACT Test Prep classes provide students with the tools they need to prepare for and succeed on the ACT. The Live-Online class format is delivered by a live instructor, providing the interactivity of a classroom experience and the convenience of an online course. Sessions are recorded and made available for review after the class ends.

Choose from multi-week or one-week course formats, and a variety of synchronous meeting times to best meet your schedule. All courses allow abundant opportunities for learning and interacting with our expert instructors, and time to practice new skills between sessions.

ACT Live-Online 
May 13 - June 8, 2021; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-8p.m.
June 1 - June 10, 2021; Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, noon - 2:30 p.m.
June 7 - June 10, 2021; Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. (break 1 - 2 p.m.)
June 10- July 13, 2021; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-8 p.m.

June 15-August 17, 2021; Tuesdays, 1-3 p.m.
July 6-July 15, 2021; Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, noon-2:30 p.m.

July 12-July 15, 2021; Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

 

The $449 registration fee includes all course materials. Save $50 with early registration, or the UWRF discount for faculty, staff, students, and alumni (only one discount may be applied).

Students receive an in-depth review of the exam questions, insights into strategies for succeeding on standardized tests, and a comprehensive study plan. Class sessions use real test questions to show just how these skills are used to improve your scores. 

The curriculum includes the following:

Math Topics

  • Practice solution techniques for problems containing variables.
  • Learn efficient approaches to complicated multi-step problems.
  • Discover tactics for translating difficult word problems into equations.

English Topics

  • Identify correct idiomatic speech in sentence correction problems.
  • Understand the basic concepts of rhetorical construction.
  • Learn which grammar errors are most frequently tested.

Reading Topics

  • Understand which part of the passage to read for reading comprehension questions.
  • Recognize the difference between global and local test items.
  • Identify passages written from the journalistic and engaged perspectives.

Science Reasoning Topics

  • Identify parameters for test items involving graphs and charts.
  • Interpolate or extrapolate answers from data given in tables.
  • Recognize the point of an experiment in research summary items.

General Test Taking Topics

  • Use the process of elimination.
  • Master time management skills.
  • Minimize test anxiety.
  • Identify common distractors.

System Requirements

The live-online ACT review sessions use a free Adobe Connect browser plug-in. The only requirements are high speed internet access and speakers or headphones. 

Course materials will be delivered directly to your home, or arrangements can be made for you to pick them up at the UWRF Continuing Education Office. We recommend registering at least four (4) business days in advance of the class start date to ensure timely delivery of your student package.

Free ACT Strategy Workshops

Attend an informational session where experienced test preparation instructors will share their knowledge and strategies for achieving great test results. There is no cost to participate in these workshops, but advanced registration is required to obtain access to the online workshops.
