I was a first generation college student myself, overcoming many obstacles to attend college and graduate. I have an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Language Arts. I also have a Master's Degree in Education and an Educational Specialist Degree in School Guidance and Counseling. I have spent my whole career in some aspect of education (Pre-K through post-secondary) for 35 years and love my current job working with college students. I am married to Jim and have two step-daughters one who finished her Ph.D program, and one who is still working on hers. We have a dog named Maddy who is a very lovable pup. I enjoy reading, camping, everything related to the Chicago Cubs, and spending time with friends and family. An interesting fact about myself is that I lived in Alaska for two years and witnessed the Iditarod (dog sled race) twice as the village I lived in was a checkpoint on the 1,100 mile route.
