Fall Closing & Winter Break / J-term Housing Requests

 

Fall Closing

All residence halls close on Friday, December 23 at 10 a.m. You will not have access to your hall or room unless you complete a J-term housing request and have received approval. See below for information on J-term housing requests.

The residence halls will open for current students on Saturday, January 21 at 8 a.m.

Preparing to leave for winter break/J-term

If you are currently a student and will be returning to UWRF in the spring, you do not need to move out. Complete the following before leaving campus:

• Throw out perishable food (including food in the fridge)
• Close window(s) and blind(s)
• Take all room trash to dumpsters located outside the residence hall
• Unplug all appliances (except fridge and aquarium)
• Outlet strips and valuables should be off the floor
• Turn all lights off
• Lock room door
• Sign the "we've left for break" sheet on your room or suite door

If you are in a double-occupancy room and have not paid for a single room, make sure one bed, desk, dresser, and closet are available for a potential new spring semester roommate.

Hall staff will enter all student rooms to ensure all tasks have been completed.

Approved to check out at the end of fall semester

Any students approved by Residence Life staff to check out at the end of fall semester need to follow the move out process outlined on the Move Out webpage and on floor bulletin boards.

Hathorn Mail Center

The Hathorn Mail Center will be open very limited days and hours during winter break. All packages received for students who will be living in the residence halls during spring semester will be held until Sunday, February 5, 2023.

 

 

Winter break/J-Term Housing

Winter break/J-term housing is available Friday, Decemmber 23 - Friday, January 20.

J-term Housing Request Deadline

Processing of portal requests for J-term housing will end at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023. Residence Life will not process any J-term requests or cancellations after this date.

J-term housing requests must be submitted 24 hours in advance of the day you want to be on campus. Requests will be processed Monday-Friday 8-4:30pm, except for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

About Winter Break/J-Term Housing

During Winter break/J-Term (see dates above) only residents who have requested and been approved for J-Term housing will have door access to their hall using their student ID card.

Fees

All Winter break/J-Term housing charges will be placed on your university eSIS account. Once your request is approved, you will be billed a nightly rate.

Double Room Rate: $19/night/person
Single Room Rate: $21/night/person
