Virgil C. Nylander, Professor

Virgil was one of the first Experimental Psychologists to be hired by the University. He taught courses in Physiolgical Psychology, Learning, Perception and Experimental Methods. He served in a number of administrative positions including department chair, Associate Dean of Education, Assistant Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance.. He retired in 2004, but was called out of retirement to act as Chancellor following the death of Chancellor Ann Lydecker.

In retirement he continues to be involved with several community organizations as well as a continuing interest in outdoor activities.

Michael Reich, Professor

Mike served the University for twenty-seven years in many roles.  Trained as an experimental physiological psychologist he enjoyed teaching courses in physiological psychology, behavioral statistics, research methods, and general psychology--all required courses.  He was a charter member of Psi Chi and served as the faculty advisor for many years.  Mike served as department chairperson and enjoyed meeting and advising students.  Additionally, he served in the University Administration as Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Graduate School.

Since his retirement in 2013, Mike enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, traveling(especially to national parks), and actively pursuing photography as a hobby.

Charles Stewart, Associate Professor

A former chair and 30-year member of the department, Chuck is now retired. In retirement, Chuck pursues his love of travel and occasionally imbibes a fine pint of homemade brew. During his tenure as chair, the department made significant technological improvements. Thus, students now enjoy up-to-date computer and laboratory experiences.
