UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN River Falls

Music Program

Applied Permission Number Request

Applied Music (private lessons) is an extremely expensive instructional service that is offered at no extra cost to music majors and minors (instrumental and vocal) who are fulfilling degree requirements (Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5).

Music Majors and Minors

To become eligible for Applied Music (private lessons) with no additional fee, a student must:

  1. Officially declare a major or minor in music
  2. Take one or more academic courses in music (usually theory) concurrently with applied music, or as soon as the student can enter the course sequence if a major or minor is declared late in the academic year
  3. Demonstrate basic performance competence through an audition on the instrument
  4. Submit a separate application form for each Applied Music course (see below)

Please read these additional policies for more information about Applied Music.

Additional Information

If space is available, students who are not music majors or minors - or music majors/minors taking applied music for credits beyond those required for their degree - may enroll in Applied Music, but are subject to an additional fee of $460 per credit (Sections 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10) and a $9 fee for keyboard and piano replacement.
