Chalmer Davee Library COVID-19 Response and Updates

 

Effective March 19 at 2 p.m., the Chalmer Davee Library building is closed to the public. This includes physical access to the main library, Textbook Services, and the University Archives & Area Research Center. The library will remain closed until April 24 in accordance with Governor Evers' "Safer at Home" order. This date is subject to change.

Library staff is available to assist you remotely. During this time, the library will perform many services virtually via phone, email, and other methods. This includes reference services, troubleshooting access to e-resources, and processing Interlibrary Loan requests. See below for details.

Due Dates and Fees
Please do not return library materials at this time. We have extended all due dates to Sept. 4, 2020. Overdue and lost item fees are waived. The book drop on the library exterior is currently closed. 

Resource Sharing
UW System Resource Sharing has been discontinued until further notice due to the shutdown of South Central Library System Delivery.  

Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan services are currently available. For assistance with Interlibrary Loan, call 715-425-3321 or email interlibraryloan@uwrf.edu.

Textbook Services
At this time, we are encouraging students to not return textbooks to campus. 

We are currently developing a detailed plan for end-of-semester return. The final plan will be posted on our webpage.

Current information for return:

1. All spring semester textbooks will have their due date extended until fall semester. The specific date is yet to be determined.

2. There will be no late fees for not returning textbooks at the end of this semester.

3. All fines for damages will be waived, except in cases where a replacement textbook must be purchased.

4. We are currently looking at several options for returning. 

We may individually contact students to arrange prepaid shipping for textbooks that are needed for summer term.

Checking Out Spring Semester Textbooks

Any student who needs a spring semester textbook, for what ever reason, including:

  1. A textbook you didn't check out earlier and now you need it;
  2. Your textbook is in a dorm room, or somewhere else, where you can't get it;
  3. You need your B Session textbook.

Send an email to textbookservices@uwrf.edu with the subject "Need Textbooks." Include in the email your name, "W" number, which class(es) including section (e.g. ENGL 200-01), and your full mailing address. We will determine if there is an eBook option for you, and if not, we will mail the textbook to you at no charge. Please be aware that due to current on-campus restrictions and current shipping delays, it may take from three to six business days to receive a physical textbook.
